How to do it
- Start in open position (2nd inversion: G-C-E) and play the three notes together, then arpeggiated.
- Move up to root position (fret 5), 1st inversion (fret 8-9) and 2nd inversion an octave up (fret 12): these are all the C major triads.
- In each shape, identify which string plays the root (C), the 3rd (E) and the 5th (G); then come back down.
- Play one shape change per bar with the metronome and speed up once the jumps are clean.
Tips
- Repeat with another root (G, D…): move the same shapes to the new root note.
