Chromatic 1-2-3-4

How to do it

1. On string 6, play frets 1-2-3-4 with fingers 1-2-3-4 and alternate picking.
2. Repeat on each string down to the first, then come back.
3. Leave fingers "planted": do not lift finger 1 while placing 2, 3 and 4.

Variations

• Move the pattern along the neck, one position higher each time.
• Try other finger orders: 1-2-4-3, 1-4-2-3, 4-3-2-1.

Tips

• Press just behind the fret, with the minimum force needed.
