Right-hand fingering

How to do it

  1. Right hand: play C-E-F-G-A-G-F-E with fingering 1-3-4-5-4-3-2-1 (follow the staff).
  2. Move the pattern up one note (start on D, then E…) keeping the same finger shape.
  3. Do the same with the left hand an octave lower; then hands together.

Variations

  • Continue the pattern up to the top of the keyboard and back down (the full Hanon).
  • Try dotted rhythms: long-short, then short-long.
  • Play it all staccato one day, all legato another.

Tips

  • Lift each finger clearly before playing, but without tension: every note should sound equal.
