How to do it
- Ascend the scale with a gradual crescendo up to the top note.
- Descend with a diminuendo until ending very softly.
- Avoid abrupt volume jumps: it should be a continuous curve.
Variations
- Reverse it: diminuendo going up and crescendo coming down.
- Apply the same curve to an arpeggio; transpose to other keys.
