Read figures — basic

Half and quarter notes in 4/4: match each figure to its duration (one or two beats) with no subdivisions yet.

1. Step 1A pattern of half and quarter notes will appear in 4/4.
2. Step 2Read the quarter note as one beat and the half note as two; tap it in time.
3. Step 3There are no eighth notes yet: focus on telling one beat (quarter) from two (half).
