Degree dictation — advanced

Longer melodic dictation in C major: write the whole melody and its degrees.

1. Step 1Listen to the four-bar melody and memorise it in short phrases.
2. Step 2Write all the notes and identify the degree (1-7) of each one relative to the tonic.
3. Step 3Watch the tendency tones (2, 4, 6, 7) and which stable degree they resolve to.
4. Step 4Confirm your answer and repeat until you transcribe the whole melody confidently.
