Long phrases (modal interchange)

1. Step 1Sight-read a long 8-bar phrase in C major, always keeping C as the resting centre.
2. Step 2Notice the turns that darken or open the colour without moving the tonic: that is the feeling modal interchange is after.
3. Step 3Play the whole phrase at tempo and confirm each attempt until you read it confidently.
