Feel the tendency of the degrees

Melodic dictation, circle of fifths and degree recognition.

1. Step 1Listen to the short phrase keeping the tonic (C) always as the resting point.
2. Step 2Notice which notes rest (degrees 1, 3, 5) and which pull (degrees 2, 4, 6, 7).
3. Step 3When the leading tone (7) appears, expect it to rise to the tonic; when the 4th appears, to fall to the 3rd.
4. Step 4Confirm your answer and repeat until you anticipate the resolutions confidently.
